Accessibility Statement

ERC aims for the website to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, at Level AA.

The website is designed to provide:

• Clear page structure and heading order
• Keyboard access to navigation, links, controls, and forms
• Visible focus indicators
• A way to skip repeated navigation
• Text alternatives for meaningful images
• Labels and understandable error messages for form fields
• Sufficient colour contrast
• Responsive layouts that work with text enlargement and smaller screens
• Reduced-motion alternatives for non-essential movement
• Content that remains available when motion or images do not load

Decorative images should be ignored by assistive technology. Generated editorial images that could be mistaken for documentary evidence are labelled as illustrative.

Accessibility requires continued testing and correction. ERC intends to review important pages with automated checks, keyboard testing, screen-reader checks, text enlargement, reduced-motion settings, and a range of screen sizes before release and after material changes.

Despite these measures, a person may still encounter a barrier, particularly after content, browser, or assistive-technology changes. When ERC confirms a barrier, it will assess a practical correction and prioritize issues that block access to essential information or the enquiry process.

When reporting an accessibility issue, include the page title or address, device and browser if known, assistive technology if relevant, and a short description of what happened. ERC will use that information to investigate the barrier.
